Assistant Commercial Manager in Swindon, South West, South West, United Kingdom
This role is for a key position in our expanding rail business. We are looking to add an Assistant Commercial Manager/Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join Commercial team in Swindon. The post would suit someone who has a the right qualifications and passion to develop their career further in the rail industry.
We require a passionate, driven and enthusiastic person to join our strong experienced team of Quantity Surveyors/Commercial Managers. Someone who has the theoretical knowledge and an understanding of the railway/construction sectors.

You will be involved with client relationship management (tender/negotiation), programming and delivery to final account. You’ll be involved in many aspects of Quantity Surveying & Construction Management work such as:
• Commercial administration and management for your project
• Document preparation – procurement, valuation and commercial administration
• Cost estimates, cost planning, feasibility, cost management & final accounts
• Contract administration
• Bills of quantities,
• Report writing,
• Site visits
• Packages of work preparation
• Setting terms of contracts with subcontractors, protecting the company's legal position
• Sub contractor management and in time, taking responsibility for your own subcontractors
You should have a positive attitude to working in a busy office environment, with excellent IT and office skills. Ideally we are looking for someone with:
• A relevant technical degree, in Quantity Surveying / Commercial Management with RICS or CIOB accreditation
• Good level of numeracy and IT skills – MS Office, Word, Excel etc
• Strong team player who is self-motivated and able to communicate with people at all levels
• Effective organisational skills and the ability to prioritise work within tight deadlines.
• A strong personality who can be flexible and adaptable to the needs and demands of the business.
• Ability to liaise directly with seniors and follow instruction where necessary
• A desire to learn, develop and progress with the role and the Company, undertaking relevant training and study where necessary
• A professional telephone manner and ability to deal with customers and colleagues at all levels.
