Commercial Engineering Manager – £60-65k – Derbyshire
I’m working with a unique operator who are seeking an individual who can provide engineering technical support to the Commercial team, develop new opportunities to exploit business opportunities and manage the successful delivery of engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Working closely with the supply chain and industry experts, develop an understanding of the requirements of manufacturers, ROSCO and TOCs from a technical engineering aspect
- Use industry best practice and underpinning knowledge of testing and commissioning activities, CSM-RA and approvals (NoBo, DeBo, AsBo) to support new trains introduction programmes
- Provide indicative costs for engineering activities for inclusion in the pricing model
- Ensure time and costs for site visits, vehicle inspections, review of maintenance systems, facilities and processes etc. are included in commercial bids for work packages as relevant
- Review and action the status of vehicles within R2, RSL, National Vehicle Register and TOPS that form part of commercial requests to operate services
- Provide information around risk and pitfalls of individual traffic flows, ensuring a “no surprises” culture
- Carry out vehicle inspections, site and depot visits, attend customer meetings, develop relationship with engineers within external organizations to ensure communication and information exchange is timely and of the highest caliber
- Provide detailed revenue forecasts and projected cost analysis as required.
- Initiate and progress through to closure contracts, contract amendments, variation orders, heads of terms agreements, etc. in conjunction with other internal functions.
About you:
- HNC/HND qualification in relevant engineering discipline
- Significant experience in the management of fleets of traction and rolling stock, depot management, maintenance contracts, new vehicle introduction
- Ability to integrate engineering requirements into a non-engineering department, to discuss and explain engineering issues in detail with non-engineers, avoiding the use of jargon or technicalities
- Ability to accept commercial needs and limitations as part of an overall engineering assessment and solution
- Good understanding of daily operating and overall UK rail market.
- Analyse data and issues and present practical solutions
