COMMERCIAL MANAGER – RAIL PILING

An opportunity has arisen to establish and lead the commercial management of VolkerRail’s Piling and Ground Investigation division. We are looking for an experienced individual who can demonstrate an ability to be self-motivated with a pro-active approach. Experience of managing fluctuating workloads, working under pressure, meeting tight deadlines and working on your own initiative are essential, together with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Working closely with the project team you will manage all costs relating to piling and G.I. projects, from involvement in the initial estimates to final account preparation and agreement.

You will seek to minimise the cost of a project and enhance value for money, while ensuring that the required standards and quality are achieved. This includes strict adherence to relevant commercial guidelines at all times.

You will prepare estimates and costs of the work and when works are in progress, keep track of any variations to the contract that may affect costs and create reports to show profitability. You will liaise with Clients with regards change management and ensure that application for payments are submitted on time.

You will prepare monthly management account information and attend contract review meetings to answer questions on contract performance.

To be considered for this role you must have:

• A Degree or equivalent in Quantity Surveying.
• Ideally working towards chartered Surveyor or equivalent membership.
• Proven and significant experience in a commercial environment. Preferably within a Rail/Construction related industry.
• Computer literate and working knowledge in Microsoft office applications.
• Previous experience of COINs would be advantageous.
