About our Client: Train operating company.
As a rail operator, our client is focused on station refurbishments and upgrades across the network. Our client is looking for a Commercial Manager who can lead the commercial support to the organisation, including the provision of reporting and system based transactional activities for the whole portfolio, whilst actively also being involved in the day to day commercial administration of lower value / lower risk contracts.
Location: To be based in City of London Office.
Purpose: Responsible for all of the Pre and post contract commercial contract management related to the programme of works.
Manage: Quantity Surveyors
Key Accountabilities
- Establishing and implementing appropriate commercial strategies including effective project cost management.
- The commercial management of contracts and leading the commercial review of contractor delivery.
- Initiate estimating and commercial risk and value management of projects.
- Lead the negotiation of all prices under existing contracts.
- The monitoring and managing all project reporting.
- To provide pro-active expertise, advice and governance on all contract/scope changes in accordance with change control systems, recommending and progressing resolution of contract variations.
- Undertake financial reporting and commercial risk management
- Manage all commercial correspondence and contractual notices issued.
- Lead the final account settlements on all projects to manage close out.
- Lead with pre and post contract procurement activities.
Person Specification
- Educated to degree level or equivalent and professional qualification.
- MRICS / MCIOB
- Knowledge of railway and construction industry conditions of contract.
- Experienced negotiator.
- Experience of resolution of construction contract disputes.
- 5 years’ relevant railway and/or construction experience.
- Knowledge of railway commercial contract management.
- Strong commercial awareness
- Strong client liaison skills

- Solid problem Solving, decision making and analytical capabilities
