Job Summary
An opportunity has arisen for a Commercial Manager to join Major Projects working in York.
This role will involve:
- All duties required by the commercial department or project team, to ensure successful setup and running of a project or projects in compliance with all company standards and in particular the “Commercial Manual”.
- In conjunction with their Line Manager and the Finance Manager, set and review annual budgets, future capital expenditure budgets/proposals, ensure compliance with the Company’s financial authorities’ procedure, monitors and reports on costs and ensures that departmental activity is within agreed budgets and authorities.
- Responsibility within the Project Team to ensure projects are setup on the company accounting system with a suitable Work Breakdown
- Responsibility for inputting budget & tender data from successful tenders into the Company accounting/Reporting
- Responsibility within the Commercial Department and Project Team with the preparation of the monthly project reports from the Company accounting/Reporting System for both internal & client
- Responsibility for the preparation of the monthly Applications and Invoicing to ensure submission in a timely manner of an accurate document aimed at maximising the company’s financial
- Take responsibility for notifying your client early of any increased project value or delay to project
- Meeting clients and commercial representative on a monthly basis to discuss certificates and discuss agreement and levels of substantiation required to close out change control items and application for payment
- Responsibility for the collection of cash and pursuit of certificates from clients in
a timely manner, in order to maximise the company’s cash flow position.
- Responsibility for inputting Applications and invoices (recording accurately) onto the company accounts system including payment
Job Requirements
You will be self-motivated with a pro-active approach and have experience of managing fluctuating workloads, working under pressure, meeting tight deadlines and working off your own initiative. A high level of accuracy and attention to detail is essential.
To be considered for this role you must have:
- Must have Degree or equivalent in Quantity
- Strong analytical
- Demonstrable legal, contractual and construction knowledge and
- Proven and significant experience in a commercial environment. Preferably within a Rail/Construction related
- A creative, strategic and innovative approach to problem
- Confidence and ability to assert
- Computer literate and working knowledge in Microsoft office
- Previous experience of COINs would be
