We are proactively looking to attract and secure skilled and qualified Commercial Managers with experience in the infrastructure sector and opportunities to be based in either Perth, Melbourne or Sydney.

The Commercial Manager will be responsible for managing the commercial requirements of Downer’s Infrastructure Projects strong and diverse pipeline of work. As an experienced Commercial Manager with extensive construction experience, you will be responsible for the review of all commercial issues and risks associated with the preparation of bids ensuring that such risks are adequately identified, assessed and actioned by the bid teams. You will lead in the development of sound working relationships with customers that demonstrate Downer’s ability to provide effective solutions.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Oversight of multiple contracts inclusive of: Management of delay impacts; Issuing of contract notices and variations; Maintenance of commercial registers and assessing impact of events, including pricing variations and quantifying EOTs
- Liaising with relevant internal stakeholders (legal, project controls, etc.)
- Contractual negotiations and dispute resolution with upstream project clients and downstream subcontractors
- Ownership of project scope management plan, and championing the change management processes and tools within, including contract variation claims, extensions of time and design change
- Interface with all project functional leads in the management of the above
- Providing summaries, reports and updates to the Executive Leadership Team as required
- Provide commercial insights around the operations of the business and competitor analysis
- Delivery of accurate financial results and forecasts in line with the deliverables calendar
ABOUT YOU
- A tertiary qualification in Commercial / Contract Management or related discipline (e.g. quantity surveying, contract law, etc.) is preferred
- A minimum of 8+ years’ experience in the construction industry (or related areas),
- Experience working across Rail / Road projects an advantage
- Demonstrable and successful senior commercial management experience / capability in a similar business environment
- Ability to proactively build relationships with key stakeholders, clients, peers and all levels of business
- Ability to develop and implement effective commercial strategies on major project bids
- Strong background in the successful negotiation of contracts within an acceptable risk profile.
- Solid track record of delivering revenue and cost savings initiatives
- Ability to influence team members and stakeholders across reporting lines and organisational units
