Head of Commercial in Doncaster, Hybrid, United Kingdom

The Head of Commercial is a key role in the organisation with responsibility for ensuring that commercial excellence is delivered across the organisation as well as direct delivery responsibility of some commercial contract requirements pre and post contract. They ensure pre and post contract commercial process, resource, strategy and culture is delivered to the company plan and expectations.

Requirements:


Full membership of a recognised Professional institution or working towards
The proven experience and ability to deliver the Head Of Commercial role as detailed above.
Ability to successfully build and maintain client relationships whilst optimizing the company business interests.
Proficient in the use of MS Office software
Has a very disciplined approach to process compliance and development.

Responsibilities

  • Contract Understanding & Negotiation with the Customer
  • Develop commercial strategies to support tender and variation opportunities into customers, review and develop proposed contract terms and lead on positive but complex customer negotiations
  • Determination of project commercial risk through detailed interpretation of the contract documents and quantification as the consequence and likelihood. Work closely with the delivery team to minimize risk through developing robust mitigation solutions.
  • Understanding standard forms of contract and effectively managing all key provisions including the rights, obligations and liabilities of the parties.
  • Create, communicate and educate the wider commercial team in the understanding of what the key contract terms and requirements mean to them and fully support the enabling of compliance with those.
  • Proficient in the understanding development and implementation of NEC construction contracts and subcontracts, NR/LUL design, delivery and installation contracts, Rolling stock overhaul, modification and service contracts.
  • Understanding customer business requirements and ensuring contractual arrangements meet the needs of the customer and the company, through seeking out and developing win win value add solutions.
  • Being the customer's day to day commercial interface and therefore ensuring the company maintain a strong positive business relationship
  • Manage the suppler agreements and subcontracts throughout the through the commercial team and collaboration with procurement and project management.
