Company Information

An independent rail consultancy of 10 years' standing, with a wealth of experience and expertise across a wide variety of environments and disciplines is looking to take on a Senior Commercial Manager.

Based in Birmingham and reporting to the Head of Commercial the Senior Commercial Manager will play a key role in managing the financial aspects of construction projects within the rail sector from inception to completion. You will be responsible for ensuring that rail projects are delivered within budget while maintaining the highest standards of quality and compliance.

Responsibilities

- Provide Commercial Management/Quantity Surveying to our major project
- Provide quantity surveying assistance to delivery teams
- Responsible with the Project Manager for all project reports to pre-determined deadlines.
- Manage the compensation event process
- Assess compensation events
- Draft Project Managers Instructions on behalf of the project manager.
- Carry out any administration required under the NEC4 ECC Contract.
- Value payment certificates in a timely manner.
- Contribute to the development of junior staff
- Attendance at project and site meetings
- Own the production of full CVR including ongoing risk assessment, forecasts and progress.
- Attend SLC Rail Commercial Meetings on a regular basis
- Support SLC Rail in additional commercial duties (additional to core project), when require

Experience required

- Strong experience in the rail sector working on relevent projects ie stations, platform, structures / buildings etc.
- Rail infrastructure experience
- A HND/Degree qualification in quantity surveying or relevant commercial discipline
- ideally Working towards or hold membership of an appropriate recognised professional institution
