The Transpennine Route is a major transport artery for the UK and for the communities and economies across the north of England. It runs for 76 miles between Manchester, Leeds, York, Selby and onto Humberside. It’s a hugely popular route and passenger numbers have doubled over the past 25 years. Millions of people that work, study and live alongside the railway depend on it every year.

The Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU) is a multi-billion pound investment programme that will deliver a high performing, reliable railway for passengers with more seats, more trains and faster journeys between Manchester and York via Huddersfield and Leeds. It is the biggest railway transformation the north has seen since the Victorian era.

TRU is made up of three programmes: West of Leeds, Leeds Central and East of Leeds. The West of Leeds Alliance (TRU West) is responsible for the transformation of the railway between Manchester and Leeds.

Acting as one team, the TRU West Alliance will put passengers first and deliver a positive outcome for all involved: for the team, which will gain unparalleled experience; for people that live, work and study along the railway; for Network Rail’s customers and stakeholders; for the public purse and ultimately, for the North of England. In this way, the TRU West Alliance will not only deliver present benefit but also leave a lasting, sustainable legacy.

What is the purpose of this role?

Accountable to the P&P Lead. A management role within the Amey Rail supporting the P&P Lead with:

• Creating sustainable success via a high-performance culture that adopts best practice and delivers successfully in the Alliance pa
• People related process, implementing Change and Business Improvement.
• Leading a sub section of the P&P team

What will this role involve?

Building and sustaining a highly motivated and high-performance Amey Rail team on Transpire.

Fully integrating the Amey Rail People and Process Strategy with the requirements of the Transpire Alliance. To ensure the overall success of the Alliance.

Achieve the resourcing and recruitment targets for Amey Rail to meet the needs of all Alliance Functions and Projects.

Building and sustaining a highly motivated and high-performance Amey Rail team on Transpire.

What are we looking for?

Essential

• Relevant successful experience in the delivery of multi-disciplinary change workstreams and projects.
• Experience of successfully operating with partners and suppliers in a collaborative contractual environment
• Project management experience in successfully delivering multi-discipline projects with responsibility for P&L at project level
• Knowledge of motivation, engagement and leadership good practice and techniques
• Highly organised and ability to deal with change and complexity
• Experience of customer and supply chain management in a challenging environment
• Experience of working with stakeholders at various levels and the ability to build strong internal relationships
• Good commercial experience and awareness
• Experience of resourcing recruitment and selection
• Ability to problem solve quickly and efficiently on a wide variety of People related issues as they arise
• Project and/or change management
• Computer literacy
• Membership of a relevant professional body
• Project / Change Management qualification

Desirable

• Project / Change Management qualification
• Design facilitate and lead engagement activities for a large team
• Experience in delivering organisational change initiatives, engagement and behavioural and culture change
• Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline
• Proven safety and wellbeing management experience for those working in a railway environment
