Bonding Construction CRE in Manchester, United Kingdom
We are a multi-disciplined contractor with a service portfolio that covers track, trades, civils, OLE, signalling and telecoms along with trackside lighting and safety barrier fencing.
In this respect we are a forward-thinking business that has the ability to undertake large scale contract works delivering a variety of services such as structures, track drainage, earthworks and lineside infrastructure works under one umbrella.
We have established a network of offices across the whole of the UK where we pro-actively recruit from within the local community to fully support our clients on a National Basis.
This is a long term contract role split between WFH and Manchester and Leeds
Short term
- Co-ordinate bonding related engineering activities for allocated projects to facilitate conformance to the contract specification and delivery to programme timescales
- Leading and managing all bonding engineering activities for the team
- Co-operating with the other engineering teams and disciplines
- Planning and implementing bonding engineering activities
- Attendance to routine engineering meetings / functions (e.g. IDC’s, IDR’s and other design interfaces) and generally to ensure close liaison with the client assurance and design teams
- Reviewing (as required) all necessary engineering site documentation (programmes, WPP, TBs etc).
Mid term
- Support the CEM in the discharge of their role duties including Construction Design Management (CDM) compliance and the clients Common Safety Method Risk Assessment (CSM-RA) and Hazard Log
- To ensure that critical project engineering documentation (such as the WPP, TB’s, Permits, etc.) has appropriate resource and attention allocated to it to facilitate quality and timely completion and compliance.
Long term
- Assisting the Rail Systems Engineering Manager with engineering initiatives
- To actively participate in, and engage with, external (e.g. ORR, Client) and internal (e.g. Amey and Transpire) audits
- Planning and undertaking briefings on engineering issues - specific to bonding.
CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTORS

- Relevant HND / HNC academic qualifications or equivalent and appropriate (10 years) practical experience in the relevant industry
- Ability to read and understand bonding plans and signalling layouts
- General Rail Electrification engineering knowledge and experience
- Rail Electrification construction experience on large projects.
Desirable Skills, Qualifications and Training:
- CRE experience
- IOSH safety qualification (or equivalent)
- Locally based (proximity to Manchester and Huddersfield)
- Construction delivery experience
- Multi -disciplinary project experience
- Emergency First Aid
- Construction Design
- Hold or previously held:
- OLEC 3 Core (Construction, Renew, Enhance & Mod OLE)
- OLEC 3.5 Install Enhance and Renew Earthing and Bonding (Construct, Renew, Enhance & Modify OLE)
