Construction Engineer

Purpose of the Role
Assist with the provision of technical support to the Lead Engineer Track for the planning and delivery of track renewals ensuring technical aspects of all works comply with relevant Network Rail Group and Line Standards and safety legislation.
Key Areas of Responsibility & Accountability
- Assist with the provision of technical support to the Lead Engineer, Site Manager and Site Supervisors.
- Monitor and ensure technical compliance on all works, site and office.
- Ensure all works are undertaken all works in compliance with Contractual Specification and Network Rail Group and Line Standards.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant Safety Legislation.
- Undertake all technical aspects of works in compliance with Network Rail Group and Line Standards.
- Assist with and attend Whiteboard/Stage Gate meetings in accordance with Procedures producing the required outputs to support effective and robust delivery of the works to completion.
- Review completed works to ensure Best Practice and Lessons Learnt activities are captured, recorded and utilised in future work planning and execution .
- Participate in the planning and preparation of works.
- Undertake surveys, planning and programming of work, technical supervision on site, preparation of documents.
- Direct, control and monitor technical quality on site.
- Production of design drawings in accordance with contract specifications
- Assist in the costing of technical activities within track renewal works.
- Assist with the preparation and submission of Bar Charts/Time Chainage charts, Lifting Plans, WPPs, task Briefs and other site documentation all works.
- Ensure all works undertaken are planned, installed and tested in accordance with appropriate Network Rail Group and Line Standards.
- Ensure all aspects of works undertaken comply with technical specification.
- Role takes on the key responsibility of carrying out Engineering management responsibilities under direction of the Lead Engineer/ CRE. This will include the management of the installation of new track geometry to design specification and creating an accurate As Built¿ record.
- Completion of engineering compliance activities including, but not exclusive to, managing infrastructure registers, managing CRT requirements and building a robust and accurate H&S file for the job.
- Role requires individual to participate in training and mentoring to develop and maintain key engineering competencies which ensure qualification to Doze ballast formation, install track, ensure compliant geometry and joints are installed, tamp track and inspect track.
Person Specification
The job holder will have:
- Good knowledge of Track Renewals Disciplines
- Excellent knowledge of Rules & Regulations, H.A.S.A.W and other appropriate regulations.
- Excellent knowledge of both group and line standards.
- In depth knowledge of all aspects of track renewals disciplines.
- HNC in an Engineering discipline or working towards.
- Able to drive or willing to learn.
- PTS and COSS
- Minimum of 4 years¿ experience of a broad range of relevant Engineering fields
- As you will expect the organisation may change from time to time and you will be expected to meet the operational requirements.
