We are currently working with a major engineering contractor based in Birmingham who are looking to recruit a Depot Construction Manager to join the team working on the Wednesbury to Brierly Hill Metro Extension in Tipton. As Depot Construction Manager you will be responsible for Construction Site activity within a live depot environment for all internal and external works. This role will involve managing and supervising construction activities supported by the discipline Delivery Managers and Site Engineers. As Construction Manager you will need to demonstrate strong leadership and operate with collaborative management behaviours and effective communication skills. The Construction Manager will work alongside Self Delivery personnel and oversee specialist subcontractors. Work will consist of managing multidisciplinary Civils, Building works, Track & systems for Light Rail infrastructure.

As Depot Construction Manager your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- The Construction Manager will report daily to the Senior Project Manager and manage the Internal & external works within the Wednesbury Depot project in a safe & environmentally responsible manner in line with the agreed schedule of works.
- Ensure works are delivered within Cost and quality, in accordance with the Alliance Principles End Result Projects delivered to time, cost and quality.
- Perform the above tasks in accordance with the Alliance Charter End Result collaborative behaviours demonstrated across stakeholders.
- Discharge CDM Principal Contractor duties on behalf of Colas Rail UK Limited.
- Manage Site Performance/contract management of works packages
- Lead Site Weekly meetings ensuring health and safety, programme, and external work package KPIs are adhered to.
- Ensure the workforce and nominated subcontractors discharge their duties in line with MMA policy & agreed procedures.
- Ensure accurate record keeping is maintained throughout the duration of the works
- Any other reasonable duties as required from time to time.
- As you will expect the organisation may change from time to time and you will be expected to meet the operational requirements.
Job requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years in a Similar Role
- 5 year working experience on Major Civil Engineering & Construction projects
- Experience working in a Rail Environment
- Working Knowledge of Health & Safety / CDM responsibilities
- Experience of NEC & ICE contracts
- Knowledge of safety, quality, and environmental procedures.
- Knowledge of commercial and financial procedures.
- Reinforced concrete construction experience
- First Aid Training
- Track & Systems experience
- Demonstrable experience of plant, labour and materials management and cost control.
- Meticulous record keeping.
- Recognised Construction Management / Civil Engineering qualification.
- Professional Membership (or working towards membership).
- CSCS Site Management
- SMSTS
- PTS (Desirable)
