Our client currently requires an experienced Construction Manager (Depots) for their Central Birmingham team on a permanent basis
Reporting into the Senior Project Manager the main purpose of the role is to:
- Responsible for Construction Site activity within a live depot environment for all internal & external works
- Managing and supervising construction activity supported by the discipline Delivery Mangers and Site Engineers.
- Demonstrate strong leadership and operate with collaborative management behaviours and effective communication skills.
- Work alongside personnel and oversee specialist subcontractors and also consist of managing multidisciplinary Civils, Building works, Track & systems for Light Rail infrastructure.
Other responsibilities
- Ensure works are delivered within Cost and quality, in accordance with the project principles – end result – projects delivered to time, cost and quality.
- Discharge CDM Principal Contractor duties on behalf of the company.
- Manage Site Performance/contract management of works packages
- Lead Site Weekly meetings ensuring health and safety, programme and external work package KPIs are adhered to.
- Ensure the workforce and nominated subcontractors discharge their duties in line with policy & agreed procedures.
- Ensure accurate record keeping is maintained throughout the duration of the works
- As you will expect the organisation may change from time to time and you will be expected to meet the operational requirements.
- Any other reasonable duties as required from time to time.
Skills/Experience required
- Minimum of 5 years in a Similar Role
- 5 year working experience on Major Civil Engineering & Construction projects
- Experience working in a Rail Environment
- Working Knowledge of Health & Safety / CDM responsibilities
- Experience of NEC & ICE contracts
- Knowledge of safety, quality and environmental procedures.
- Knowledge of commercial and financial procedures.
- Reinforced concrete construction experience
- Track & Systems experience
- Demonstrable experience of plant, labour and materials management and cost control.
- Meticulous record keeping.
- Recognised Construction Management / Civil Engineering qualification.
- Professional Membership (or working towards membership).
- CSCS Site Management
- SMSTS
- PTS (Desirable)
