The Role

We are looking to recruit an experienced Business Accountant into our 40 person VolkerRail Finance Team based in Doncaster, South Yorkshire. This role is a 12 months fixed term contact to cover maternity leave.

Key Accountabilities

You will be responsible for the management of the Power finance function ensuring that all information produced is relevant, accurate and presented in a timely manner to the highest standard, complying with IFRS and company law where appropriate.

Key duties for the role include:

• Production of the monthly management accounts and report on divisional/company performance
• Production of internal reports as required by Power Management

• Provide any commercial support required to allow the division / company to carry out its business safely and in line with company procedures and legislation, seeking advice where necessary from the Commercial Department.
• Assist external auditors with the gathering of information, allowing the audit team to form an accurate audit opinion.
• Ensure appropriate financial controls are maintained over balance sheet accounts by performing periodic reconciliations, investigating entries made, and maintaining documentary evidence for audit purposes.
• Provide ad hoc support to the Senior Finance Team as and when required.

Skills & Experience

Essential requirements for this role include a recognised Accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA or equivalent); the role would ideally suit a recently qualified candidate or someone who is looking to move to a larger organisation.

We also require excellent organisational and IT skills (Microsoft Office).

Experience of working within a railway/construction environment and working knowledge of COINS will be a distinct advantage.
