Salary: £33,000 TO £41,180 per annum
Location: Leeds / Manchester - working across the North of England

We have the opportunity for an Apprenticeship Development Coach Team Leader to join our Learning & Talent Team, to effectively manage the Apprenticeship Coaching Team to support and inspire apprentices to fulfil their individual potential and develop skills & knowledge to succeed.

As the Apprenticeship Development Coach Team Leader, you’ll be responsible for managing and supporting the performance of the Apprenticeship Coaching Team, as well as mentoring, supporting, coaching, challenging, and motivating Trainee Apprentices through their learning journey. As you assist and monitor learner progress and performance, you’ll be accountable for managing and ensuring capability and skillset of the Apprenticeship Development Coaches.

In this senior role, you’ll take professional pride in what youdo, whilst embracing and demonstrating a positive attitude towards continuous professional development. You’ll encourage and support professional development within your team, supporting the delivery of innovative and impactful teaching, learning, competence, and assessment. As well as effectively planning, supporting, and monitoring apprentice placements, you’ll also develop and identify resource to support the Apprenticeship Development Coaches with their learners.

You’ll report into the Apprenticeship Programme & Governance Manager, whilst managing a team of Apprenticeship Development Coaches. This role will be based in Leeds & Manchester, but there will be expectation to travel around the Northern network.

Role Responsibilities

Your main duties include but not limited to:

  • Accountable for the recruitment, induction, performance management and continuous professional development of Apprenticeship Development Coaches.
  • Possess and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the Government Apprenticeship / Occupational Standards and gateway to End Point assessment.
  • Accurately maintaining and recording data in accordance with funding and awarding body requirements
  • Providing and monitoring the effective safeguarding, SHE, welfare and support arrangements for apprentices throughout their programme
  • Effectively work to procedures and processes in accordance with Data Protection Regulations.
  • Produce reports for reporting trends, corrective actions and compliance levels.
  • Accountable for ensuring all safety critical competence (where required) is kept up to date in accordance with relevant safety systems.
  • Work with the wider business to monitor management information to identify learners at risk of not achieving their apprenticeship in a timely manner and ensure that appropriate and timely action plans are implemented.
  • Provide day to day support for the Development Coaches and other colleagues. Coach and Mentor new members of staff.

About You

In this role you should be able to demonstrate the following skills, abilities, behaviours, and attitude:

  • Experienced and knowledge of coaching
  • Experienced professional with occupational competence to a minimum of level 3 in learning and development or equivalent, including assessor qualification.
  • Maths and English Level 2 or equivalent
  • Experience of leading a team, setting performance standards and enabling continuous professional development, desirable
  • Excellent knowledge of learning and development discipline
  • Strong coaching skills
  • Experience of using Learner Management Systems, E-learning Portfolios e.g. Smart Assessor One File, initial assessment tools and awarding body platforms.
  • Computer literacy essential, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Understanding of Apprenticeship /Occupational Standards.
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to work on own initiative and as a team member.
  • Proven record of ability to work on own initiative
  • Demonstrate experience of acting with absolute integrity and trustworthiness
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Demonstrable organisational skills within a reactive environment
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to apply common sense and understanding to carry out activities
  • Ability to take concise and relevant notes
  • Highly organised and detail conscious.
