We are currently working with a multidisciplinary consultancy based in Moreton in Marsh, Gloucestershire, who are looking to expand their team in the Fire Service College (FSC), a world-renowned further education training college that provides a range of resilience focused courses and programmes ranging from apprenticeships to full accredited qualifications by hiring a Team Leader Fire Safety Regulator. As Fire Safety Regulator Team Leader, you will provide a professional teaching capability to support learning and development across the range of Fire Safety courses required by UKFRSs and wider private sector training where there is demand for fire safety management, fire risk assessment, auditing, and regulation, pertaining to fire safety related subjects, including responsibility for managing specific work streams as allocated by the Training Manager.

 

As Fire Safety Regulator Team Leader your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Undertake the duties of Subject Manager, Course Director, and Subject Matter Expert supporting the delivery of various levels of training
  • Close liaison with the Business Development, Sales and Marketing and colleagues within the other delivery teams at the FSC
  • Responsibility to ensure the health, safety and welfare of learners, colleagues and visitors, and delivery off site at other training venues
  • To work with Skills for Justice and the Quality Team to revise all our Prevention and Protection courses to align with new qualification standards. The approach to be adopted will be one of digital first.  
  • To support the FSC annual delivery plan by actively seeking opportunities, broadening skills to support the requirement for delivery tutors to be skilled in a range of specialist areas, and assist with the delivery of courses that fall outside of these. 
  • To support the sales team as an SME, providing knowledge and understanding of Fire Safety and related subjects to support the curriculum and the Prospectus.
  • To engage with the client when necessary to provide advice and support in all areas related to the FSC fire safety related courses.
  • To manage the team of Fire Safety Instructors, monitoring performance and development with their roles to ensure succession planning within the team.
  • Develop annual objective's specific to the individuals and the needs of the department/FSC. Conduct regular 1-2-1s, team meetings and standardisation activities to ensure continuity across the team.
What youll be doing:
  • Day to day management of the Fire Safety Training team.
  • Conducting observations of staff in the teaching environment.
  • Liaise with awarding bodies to ensure qualifications are fit for purpose.
  • Provide internal quality assurance of completed learner assignments and assessor feedback.
  • Delivery of Level 3, Level 4 and Level 5 Fire Safety related programmes to a range of customers including Fire and Rescue Services, the Public Sector and Private Sector clients.
  • Facilitation of virtual course delivery to maximise engagement and to provide a dynamic and innovative learning experience.
  • Marking delegate assignments in a timely manner, providing constructive feedback and additional support where this is required.
  • Developing lesson plans, assessment plans, varied learning materials and other related materials to provide a engaging learning experience that blends theoretical knowledge with real-life scenarios.
  • Providing coaching and mentoring to delegates to ensure they achieve their maximum potential on the courses being undertaken.
  • Liaising with customers for the development of bespoke training courses that meet their needs and delivers clear learning outcomes.
  • Maintaining up to date knowledge of the relevant qualification standards and embedding changes into delivery.
  • Maintain current knowledge of Fire Safety developments, changes in legislation.
 

What were looking for:
  • Managerial or team leader experience in either FRS or Private sector.
  • Hold an assessor qualification.
  • Must have at least 2 years current experience of working within a Regulators Fire Safety Department (e.g FRS, MOD, Local Authority).
  • A minimum of a level 4 initial teaching qualification (CTLLS or AET), equivalent or higher.
  • Demonstrable ability to prepare lesson plans and learning delivery support materials that articulate learning outcomes and assessment criteria.
  • Fire Safety Qualifications
  • Knowledge and experience of prevention and detection of fire in domestic, commercial, and industrial premises.
  • Detailed knowledge of the following Approved Document B, BS9999 and other relevant standards
