AECOM is one of the worlds largest global engineering firms and within Rail our award-winning teams in the UK provide fully integrated services, from initial concept and assessment through to consultation, consenting, detailed design and implementation.
We have also been awarded the Rail Systems Alliance (South) contract by Network Rail. This is a 10-year collaborative arrangement between Network Rail, AECOM and Colas Rail to deliver all Track and associated works on the Rail infrastructure. The contract covers the Network Rail Regions of Wales and Western, Southern and the Anglia Route within the Eastern Region. Operating through collaborative delivery in maintaining, renewing and enhancing our UK rail network.
The Talent Acquisition team are hosting a virtual career fair on Thursday 2nd April 2020, giving you the opportunity to speak to our Rail employees directly.

Minimum requirements
We would like to hear from candidates who are able to offer experience and proficiency in two or more of the key areas;
- Permanent Way Design - (P-Way)
- Signalling Design
- Systems Design
- Telecoms Design
- E&P Design (Electrification and Plant)
- OLE Design (Overhead Line Equipment)
- Civil / Structural Design
- Geomatics and Geophysical
- Systems
- Asset Management
- Project Management – Rail
- Engineering Management – Rail
- CEM - Contractors Responsible Engineer
- CRE in rail discipline areas (Permanent Way, E&P, OLE, Signalling, Telecoms, Civils / Structural
- Delivering detailed outlines and designs
- Working experience within GRIP stages GRIP 4 onwards
- Experience in operating with Eurocodes
- Experience undertaking design in one of the following software’s: Bentley™ RailTrack™, Microstation™, ClearRoute2, SD Calculator
- Able to undertake HAZIDs / HAZOPs - Hazard Identification & Assessment
- Site Safety Centre
- Rail Asset Advisory
- Asset Investigation
- Bridges
Qualifications
- Your experience will be the primary aspect that we will consider, however your educational background could be via various routes: BTEC, HNC/HND or degree level
- For some of our roles we will be looking for people to be Chartered/ Incorporated Engineer status (MICE and or MCIHT) or be working towards the qualification
- Signalling designers will hold the following licenses please:
- 1.1.160 Signalling Design Verifier
- 1.1.500 Assistant Signalling Designer
- 1.1.510 Signalling Designer
- 1.1.550 Signalling Principles Designer
