Cloud Services Specialist
Purpose of the Job
To perform a mixture of project work and support activities supporting Microsoft Azure Cloud environment.
The role includes but is not limited to the design and building of Azure services to meet business needs, proactive monitoring of our entire Azure environment and supporting this going forward. You will need to ensure that best practise is followed throughout and that data security is at the forefront of how the Azure service is designed and delivered.
Principal Accountabilities
Configuring, maintaining and monitoring the IaaS resources. This will include but not be limited to the following Azure resources:
- Azure Virtual Machines
- Azure Active Directory
- Resource Groups
- Storage Accounts
- Virtual Networks
- Security Centre
Designing the IaaS Azure environment and ensuring that the documentation is up to date and to a sufficient standard for other team members to use
Providing and maintaining the Azure remote site Windows build for all remote sites and associated design documentation
Providing support for employees and associated contractors using IaaS Azure resources
Providing support for remote site employees and associated contractors using our infrastructure.

Main challenges of the job
To ensure that the Azure service is secured according to current Microsoft best practise
Monitoring the Azure performance and adjusting the sizing of the infrastructure accordingly
Managing the costs of the Azure infrastructure
Being the primary expert on Azure within the IT team and working to ensure that this knowledge is shared with fellow team members
Person Specification
Essential
Experience using Microsoft Cloud technologies in the IaaS, PaaS & SaaS arenas
Azure resources identified above
Microsoft Azure Active Directory
Windows Server 2008/2012/2016
Windows 7/10
SQL Server 2008 R2
Networking and security fundamentals
Securing Cloud Services
Produce documentation to a high standard and must be pro-active in knowledge transfer to other team members

Azure billing and cost management
General
Demonstrate excellent problem resolution skills
Self motivating and able to identify and define development requirements
Be able to work on your own initiative
Good communication skills both verbal and written pitched to the appropriate level
The ability to convey a technical solution to senior management in a clear and concise manner
