Engineering Services Manager - Governance

Based at London or Southampton or Northampton or Manchester

Up to £63k + Company car + 12.5% bonus

The Company

One of the Leading Rolling Stock OEM’s in the UK is striving to provide cutting edge technology to the UK’s Rail network, while also transforming the future of rolling stock engineering.

The Ideal Candidate

You’ll be from Technical / Engineering background, with exceptional Managerial experience. This role will be reporting to the Director of Engineering, You be experienced in managing the teams engineering activities and safety issues to conclusion both timely and effectively for the Engineering Services organisation, ensuring all recommendations consider implications across all fleets prior to implementation

Ideally this role will be based out of our Northampton depot, however we also welcome applications from individuals who are based in London, Southampton or Manchester.

About the role

This role will be to lead and direct the Engineering Services Team in providing engineering support services and governance. Manage and direct effective processes to mitigate associated engineering risks related to safety and technical issues. You will be responsible for the Planning and allocation of engineering resources to meet current and future operational requirements. Provide accountability for the engineering services contributions (Financial and Quality) to support business performance. You will manage engineering investigations of local and multi-fleet engineering issues and provide engineering support to define the maintenance strategy ensuring a cost effective maintenance regime whilst maximising Life Cycle Cost savings. You will also provide support to sales, Procurement teams to transfer best practice experience for future contracts & bids.

About you

Rolling Stock experience would be an advantage, but not essential, as it's your experience at providing leadership within a central engineering function that is fundamental for the role. Also having experience of managing customer and stake holder expectations. Having a clear managerial governance experience within an engineering function is key.

The Requirements

• Experience at Engineering Manager level
• Relevant engineering degree or equivalent qualification
• Electrical and Mechanical systems knowledge and experience
• Experience of project planning and planning tools
