As Head of Infrastructure in this client side role in Melbourne you will be accountable for all areas of rail maintenance (track, signal, electrical etc) on the metropolitan network and be accountable for all the planning, delivery and commissioning of works to be successfully completed within budget and allocated timeframes.

Responsibilities

• Manage the workforce planning process for skilled labour for the provision of project demands
• Recruit and train the skills required to meet project demands
• Put systems in place and manage effectively the zero harm objectives of the organisation for the resources under management on project sites, in particular electrical safety and drive improvement in current practices.
• Lead a large team of highly skilled and highly in-demand resources, ensuring that the workforce remains highly engaged to enable effective delivery of the project objectives
• Establish systems and manage the efficient deployment of staff and resources across a highly diverse project demand with frequent change
• Establish systems and manage the effective billing of infrastructure staff to projects, ensuring that all costs are recovered and allocated timely and correctly
• Manage the electrical permit planning process interface with projects
• Manage the reactive interface with projects when occupations don’t deliver to plan

To Be Suitable for the role you will

• Bachelor level qualification in a relevant field
• At least 10 years’ experience managing a large, highly unionised workforce
• Strong rail background including time overseeing maintenance work ideally within a client side organisation
• Management of large rail maintenance teams across track renewals, signal and electrical.
