As Interim Head of Rail Service Outputs you will be a collaborative leader; you will have direct oversight of input to current and future rail services and the help ensure that they meet the needs of the North. As the UK’s first sub-national transport body, we are changing the way transport is planned and delivered. You will make our vision a reality, taking ownership of the delivery of the rail service aspects of the long-term, pan-Northern strategy – the Strategic Transport Plan – and spearheading compelling evidence to support investment decisions and taking forward implementation of the recently published Blake Jones review.

Technical service delivery and strategic analysis and design work will be at the bedrock of the business cases that will deliver transformational Train Service Requirements aligned to the Company's Long Term Rail Strategy. Not only will you be a guiding voice in shaping strategy, you will manage the programme, collaborate with partners, be responsive to Covid-19 impacts and solutions, holding partners and industry to high standards and minimising risks.

You will twin strategic leadership with strong project management experience, alongside the confidence to communicate with a diverse and complex stakeholder community. You will become a trusted external voice for TfN and build your professional relationship with key stakeholder partners.

This successful candidate requires not only extensive knowledge of the rail industry and rail performance, specifications, and evolving strategies, but a passion to drive economic growth through enhancing rail services. You will be adept at managing projects, have a good understanding of the regional and national policy context and have political acumen. Your ability to turn technical information into coherent briefings and proposals will help support the company vision.
