Service Delivery and Planning Manager

Job Purpose ( over view of role )
To effectively support the Soho Depot Manager by providing governance on an overnight basis in the delivery of the Soho Depot production plan. Ensuring that all objectives set are delivered in a safe and timely manner and that any short falls are addressed according to circumstances in which they occur. This also includes all the supporting processes which ensure compliance with all mandatory legislation. Provide support and leadership for all the grade groups which collectively help to deliver the service requirements.
Key accountabilities
Actively plan all aspects of depot workload to maximize resources in terms of people, materials and units. Regularly liaise with control to communicate priorities and plan emerging depot maintenance and cleaning workload Manage and control all costs, formulate and produce staff rosters on a weekly basis and authorise change. Sign off of staff booking on/off times.
Critically review actual delivery to plan taking action to promote continuous improvement. Produce detailed performance data periodically. Ensure that staff, materials and equipment are used efficiently and Identify areas for improvement by personal checks, analysis of train incident reports and review of customer complaints
Contribute to the development of the fleet in terms of reliability proposals and improvements to the train environment.
To lead, support, motivate and direct the maintenance, operating and cleaning teams to ensure the delivery of the emerging workload to achieve company and customer availability requirements.
Ensure site safety in accordance with Health and Safety at Work Act, appropriate legislation, rules and regulations. Ensure work is performed in a safe manner in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act, Industry rules and regulations, COSHH and safety responsibility statement. Carry investigations into accidents and incidents, identifying recommendations and contributing to implementation
Required to be operationally competent to undertake the shunter role to be able to make decisions on Shunter operations based on Rules and Regulations, knowledge, experience and guidance
Control and direct Team Leaders, Supervisors, Cleaners and Operations staff to ensure that required outputs in terms of availability, cleanliness and quality of workmanship are delivered to provide a reliable train service to our customers.
Ensure that the competence management systems for all engineering and operational safety critical staff are maintained and updated to demonstrate compliance.
Ensure compliance with processes and procedures in respect of the Environmental Management System to ISO14001
Ensure all staff within the Team Structure is briefed on safety and company issues. Carry out reviews with all staff to identify training and development needs.
Investigate reported failures as identified by the SQMS regime
Undertake sickness management, grievances, discipline, welfare, counselling and coaching issues that may arise
Manage the performance of the depot and its outputs utilising Equinox to both gain both information and record all work undertaken
Any other duties commensurate with the grade and post and as required
Knowledge, qualifications and experience
A recognised Apprenticeship, relevant Degree Course or equivalent
Management Qualification ILM3 Minimum
NEBOSH / IOSH Certificate
D32 or A1 assessors’ award (D32/A2/6317 assessors award)
Experienced in production best practices and procedures
3 years minimum practical experience of producing and delivering production plans and task scheduling.
A high level of ability to communicate, motivate and deal successfully with people
Proficient in financial and contract management
This post works unsociable hours including nights and weekends.
Exceptional relationship management strategy to tackle trade union issues
Practical electrical/mechanical maintenance experience
Proven management experience
Proven track record of implementing a clear vision and strategy for Depot teams
Excellent communicator who is confident in influencing a range of stakeholders across the business
