Shift Service Delivery Manager

Job Purpose:

Reporting to the Depot Manager, you will be responsible for the co-ordination, planning, execution, review and continuous improvement of all maintenance and support activities related to the Glasgow Subway.

Act as the senior manager on shifts, managing and co-ordinating any issues across the entire operation outside of normal office hours.

Support the Depot Manager in the development and implementation of a programme of culture change to drive World Class Customer Service across the Subway Operation.

Support the Depot Manager in the development and implementation of improved working practices and efficiencies in the existing operation.

Support the Depot Manager in the restructuring of the existing workforce to drive improved safety, output and quality, whilst reducing costs.

Main Responsibilities and Duties:

Co-ordinate the Subway shift maintenance teams across the P-way, Rolling Stock, Line, Engineering and Planning functions to ensure all maintenance is carried out safely, effectively, efficiently and to plan.

Act as the main interface point with the Operations Team to ensure fully coordinated service provision across all shifts.

Develop and implement all necessary systems, processes and controls to ensure all maintenance and servicing activities are carried out as safely, effectively and efficiently as possible.

Drive continuous improvement across all maintenance activities and integrated activities with other functions.

Work closely with the Depot Manager to develop detailed budget proposals, working within agreed financial limits and ensure accurate cost accounting and control of all outsourced activities.

Implement necessary processes and systems to ensure all aspects of safety are effectively applied and approved, with a major focus on risk reduction.

Develop, implement and manage an effective meetings and communications structure to support all functional requirements and inputs to and outputs from the executive team.

Engage actively with Unions and representative bodies to ensure any issues are identified and resolved/escalated as required.

Develop and implement financial controls and functional budgets to ensure financial targets are achieved.

Manage all BS EN ISO 9001: 2008 activities ensuring working practices and procedures are properly documented and recorded and actions for non-compliance corrected within reasonable timescales.

Develop training, development and succession plans to support the short, medium and long-term requirements of the operation.

Support the Depot Manager through the provision of input to the wider SPT corporate business planning process.

Develop, implement and maintain suitable KPIs upon which to measure the performance of the maintenance activities.

Liaise as necessary with other subway sections, departments and external bodies.

Participate in out of hours standby call out provision on a cyclic basis.

Ensure a safe working environment for self and others.

Attend training and development courses in line with the existing and emerging needs of the company.

Undertake such other duties as may be required for the effective discharge of the responsibilities of the post.
