The Company

You will be joining an organisation synonymous with engineering excellence, developing leading power generation technology solutions for customers in the marine, construction, agricultural, rail and defence sectors (amongst others). A genuine leader in their field, this company provides comprehensive training for its field-based engineers, to reflect the developing and emerging technology in its product range. Customer relationships are key, hence the Field Service Engineer we are looking for will have a clear track record of delivering added value services in client facing roles.

The Ideal Candidate

You will be experienced in both the mechanical and electrical maintenance of diesel engines and / or propulsion systems and associated electrical control technology. Qualified to NVQ 3 or apprentice trained (as a minimum) you will have demonstrable experience working autonomously, organizing your own work schedule, ideally in a customer facing capacity.

Working in customer locations that will include MoD sites, financial institutions, schools and safety critical industrial environments, you will be required to undertake pre-employment checks including medicals, drug and alcohol screens and criminal record checks.

As a Field Service Engineer you must be able to drive and as such a full UK driving licence is required.

Whilst a home-based role, you will travel extensively around the UK and Ireland as customer requirements dictate, incorporating overnight stays where a return home is not practical. As such applicants must be aware of the flexibility this role demands. Offshore customers will also feature so you must be comfortable working at sea.

The Role

The Field Service Engineer will receive work instructions coordinated by the head office team, incorporating scheduled maintenance and mid-life overhaul work as well as reactive works for breakdowns and repairs.

Travelling to a variety of clients sites in the UK and Ireland, you will undertake maintenance activities, investigate failures and faults (mechanical and electrical) and complete associated reports and paperwork as part of contracted long term service agreements.

The Field Service Engineer is the company representative on site, you will therefore be in regular contact with the customer providing updates on progress and ensuring work undertaken is completed in accordance with the customers maintenance schedule.

The Salary

A basic salary of circa £35k is available with this role, with bonuses, enhancements and overtime seeing average incomes achieve iro £45k. A company van is provided for business use and all expenses are covered from door to door. Attractive pension, private medical and other ‘big company’ benefits are offered as standard.
