Position: Rail Assistant Design & Assurance Manager

Location: Central London

Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 + Paid Lunch + Private Healthcare + Pension + 25 days holiday

Are you a degree qualified Engineer who is currently working in / looking to step up into an Assistant Design Manager role?

As well as assisting the Design Manager to co-ordinate, integrate and assure the entire design for the Project meet the Project Requirements; you will also be assisting the Systems Engineering & Assurance Manager on coordinating and undertaking of Systems Engineering activities including Requirements Management, Verification & Validation, Interface Management, Engineering Safety, RAM (Reliability, Availability and Maintainability), Human Factors and Systems Integration. You will also assist the Systems Engineering & Assurance Manager with successful delivery of assurance requirements, Migration Plan and Technical Assurance & Certification process.

You must have previous experience dealing with Railway Infrastructure and ideally will be from a Engineering background which will equip you with the technical knowledge to help raise / overcome any design issues. Previous experience reading and interpreting designs is also vital to this role.

Duties include:

• To support the Project Design Manager and the Systems Assurance Manager
• To promote Health Safety and Quality to the projects and through the tender process
• Manage the Design Change process
• Manage the Request for Information (RFI) process
• Review and produce contract documentation as required.
• Assist with documenting, establishing and maintaining a Systems Engineering Management Plan and associated plans to for the Project through design, installation, testing commissioning, migration and handover
• Assist with the Requirements Management process and associated Verification and Validation to demonstrate compliance with requirements throughout the life-cycle of the Project from design through to testing, commissioning (including trial operations).

Required Qualifications / Expertise:

• Educated to degree or higher level or equivalent in a numerate discipline, typically an Engineering discipline. A lower educational level, typically HNC or HND may be acceptable where a significant level of experience in a senior technical engineering role can be demonstrated
• Experience within a similar role within an appropriately sized engineering organisation.
• Experience in the railway industry of complex inter-disciplinary projects
• Hold a CSCS and Sentinel cards.
• Well-developed IT skills including industry-standard Requirements Management tools (e.g. DOORS), Microsoft Excel, and working knowledge of the use of BIM, CAD, and collaborative platforms.
