Chartered Installation Design Engineer in Coulsdon, Croydon, United Kingdom

Position - Full Summary

To support ADComms Design and Engineering department in the production of detailed designs of Telecommunication systems.

Fully responsible for execution of assigned projects throughout all stages of the design, solution realization and deployment process. Acts as interface between customer, sales and engineering, mainly covering large delivery with multi disciplines.

Responsibilities

  • Managing their deliverables for their design element from design stage through to As-Built phase
  • Coordinate with Project teams regarding product / sub-system testing and whole system integration testing, giving technical advice and solving integration issues.
  • Prepares detailed design documentation for assigned projects including site surveys.
  • Complete internal design reviews for project documentation prior to release to ensure compliance with relevant specifications.
  • Preparation and contribution to reports such Concept and Detailed design statements
  • Ensure that ADC design solutions are undertaken with consideration of commercial, programme implications and risks/hazards.
  • Conduct in-house and on-site testing (including sites of large-scale trials) of sub-system and whole system elements in coordination with Assurance Manager, Digital System Team and Station Install Team
  • Working with multidisciplinary team delivering engineering work packages.
  • Investigates new technologies regularly and reports to the company opportunities for adoption that offer efficiency, safety, quality and/or cost reduction opportunities.
  • Provide ongoing proactive support in response to technical queries from across the company and clients
  • Ensure that all records are kept updated, drawings and documentation is in accordance with ADComms Procedures.
  • Ensuring company compliance under the CDM (2015) Regulations for designs undertaken in-house and advising on all aspects of design and installation tasks.
  • Implementing health and safety risk assessments at design stage, ensuring designs are prepared and/or modified to avoid foreseeable health and safety risks at installation stage.
  • To ensure that all works under their control are carried out at a standard of quality compatible with BS EN ISO 9001 and appropriate client standards.
  • To be aware and follow appropriate engineering standards in relation to the industry.
  • Support the culture of continuous HSE improvement.
  • Communicate any concerns regarding Safety.
  • Attend training events at ADComms premises and those of third-party training organisation.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities

Education level and/or relevant experience(s)

Chartered Civil/Structural Engineer (CEng (ICE/IStructE)) or working towards chartered status.

Appropriate qualifications in Civil/Structural Engineering e.g. MEng, BEng, BSC, HND, HNC.

Professional qualification Chartered/near to in Civil Engineering.

At least 5 years' experience working in a civil engineering environment (preferably rail) with site working experience

Knowledge of British Standards, experience of Railway standards.

Knowledge and skills

Experience undertaking designs and calculations for rail structures projects, including civil engineering structures.

Profound understanding of technical drawings and draughtsmanship

Knowledge of the design development process and submission in

MicroStation and ProjectWise beneficial

Handover and MAID delivery.

General Tasks – Manager / Expert above level (Total: 20%)

1. Finance

• To be aware of project budget and actively assist the Design Manager in ensuring BIM packages are delivered to budget and on-time.

• To drive efficiency in department via reduction of design cost and improvement to design to reduce material and installation costs.

2. Quality and Compliance

• Compliance with ADComms Quality Processes.

• Compliance with ADComms Policies and Procedures.

• Partaking of all corporate requirements e.g., ISM. CSR, Antibribery & Corruption, Competition Law (list not Exhaustive)

3. Administrative / Miscellaneous

• General administration

• Undertaking of any project within the skill set of the position.

• Attendance of required training

• Undertaking of business trips
