Salary: £30,000 - £40,000

Due to our growth and recent re-structure, we have an exciting new vacancy for a Design Co-ordinator within our Engineering team in Story Scotland.

Based in our Blantyre Office, you will be responsible for:

• Developing and agreeing project deliverables/technical requirements with our clients and key stakeholders.
• Identifying and developing design strategy with all stakeholders (Clients, Story Operations Teams and Design Consultants).
• Effective and pro-active planning through close and strong working relationship with Design Consultants.
• Pro-actively monitoring designs to ensure agreed target milestones are met and mitigate risks and delays as much as practicable.
• Day to day management of design deliverables.
• Promoting communication between all parties ensuring Pre-construction, Delivery and Design Consultants are aligned.
• Ensuring all project documentation are stored in correct repository within SCL’s Business Management System, ensuring regular health checks/audits are undertaken and findings shared.
• Collating evidence for business KPI’s for design management.
• Managing hazard identification through the lifecycle of design, working closely with both Design Consultants and Story Project Teams.
• Ensuring sustainability and environmental considerations are considered, identified, and documented from inception of scheme.
• Working with Project Team to ensure feedback is received on Design Consultant performance.
• Managing and leading Design Consultant performance reviews and sharing findings with business and manage performance.
• Identifying areas for improvement and support business and Project Controls & Quality Team with development of improvement to completion inclusive of embedment.
• Creating and submitting pre-construction activity worksite applications
• Arranging land access requests for pre-construction works including the production and submission of 3rd party access strategy.
• Assisting in the preparation of local authority applications/consents for pre-construction phase.
• Preparation of relevant documentation for site works i.e., CPP and WPP. Engage with delivery team/Technical Services for production of TBS.
• Review of F001’s, F002’s & F003’s to ensure they meet the client’s requirements.
• Raise and resolve technical queries with the client and designer.
• Assist estimators with pricing.
• Ensure design delivery dates are met.
• Identify site investigation / ground investigation works required for Form 001.
• Meet designers to discuss site investigation scopes.
• Price, programme / plan & resource site investigation works.
• Plan rail access and approve safe works packs (as responsible manager).
• Preparation of CPP / WPP / TBS & Risk Assessments.
• Manage day to day elements of site activities.
• Collate information gathered from site, rationalise and issue to designers.
• Identify and control design change between AIP and detailed design.

The suitable candidate will come from a Civil Engineering background and be familiar with the design management process. Direct experience working in the design management team is not required, and in addition to those from a design management background, we are keen to hear from individuals with a civil engineering background looking to make a lateral career move.

With excellent communication skills, you will be customer focused with the ability to engage with clients and build relationships. You will have an excellent attention to detail, experience working within the rail and/ or construction industry, a good understanding of HSQE regulations and legislation and highly organised.

We have a flexible working policy with a hybrid of working from home and the office. Occasional presence on our sites will be essential therefore you must be able to travel during work hours across Scotland.
