About the Role

Our client is looking for an Engineer who has gained experience & knowledge of design in relation to bridge strengthening, renewals and refurbishment projects. As well as acting as designed, you will be responsible for mentoring and guiding graduates and technicians.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities:

Operational Accountabilities

• Take responsibility for the preparation of bridge repair, refurbishment or replacement design
• Prepare reports, specifications as required in the preparation of design work
• Supervise the production of drawings
• Plan and deliver bridge surveys and inspections including recording of all relevant information
• Complete bridge assessment calculation and reporting
• Manage delivery of projects – take responsibility for budget and resource deployment on projects

Financial Accountabilities

• Where required take responsibility for project delivery to agreed budgets
• Where required prepare estimates for work items
• Identify scope change items

People Accountabilities

• Manage resources at a project level to ensure utilisation and productivity is maintained

About You

Knowledge & Skills

• Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering
• Experience of planning and undertaking structure survey and inspection within a rail environment, STE4 competence is desirable but not essential
• Experience of bridge design and detailing practice
• Actively working towards Professional qualification

Behavioural Competencies

• Ability to work in a collaborative multi-discipline design team
• Ability to complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision and provide support and mentoring to others
