Working for a successful systems integrations business within the rail market with over 15 years' experience deploying major telecommunications and network projects with a track record of delivering large and small rail projects for Network Rail and Tier 1 organisations on time and to budget.
To be suitable for the role we are looking for candidates with;
- At least 5 years' experience working in a telecoms, electrical or high technology environment, preferably with site working experience
- Minimum 3 years rail industry experience, specifically experience of LUL and / or Network Rail design processes and risk assessment for projects at design stage
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in a design role, preferably in managing multi-discipline designs
- Advanced organisation skills, able to multi-task across multiple Project work streams and deliverables, spanning financial planning, capacity planning, and project planning / execution
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management and technical leadership skills
- Experience of designing and managing in a BIM environment
- Working knowledge Bentley MicroStation, AecoSim and ProjectWise.
While not essential it would be preferable if you have;
- A Degree, HNC/ONC or equivalent in communications, electrical, mechanical or civil engineering would be advantageous but not mandatory
Responsibilities
- Manage the workflow of design activities through the Engineering South Design Office
- Responsible for the scheduling and on-time delivery of all design deliverables for multi-discipline design projects, from initial kick-off to issue of deliverables and then production of Handover documents
- Liaising with the Project Managers to maintain programme. This includes attendance at site and progress meetings
- Managing Design, BIM and CAD resource to fulfil programme
- Forecasting resource requirements and managing team to ensure resources are fully utilised
- Check design output for integrity and accuracy (technical compliance will be carried out by others)
- Ensure that all records are kept updated and documentation is in accordance with Procedures
- Liaising with clients, sub-contractors, suppliers and contract support staff as required
- Ensuring company compliance under the CDM (2015) Regulations for designs undertaken inhouse and advising on all aspects of design and installation tasks including the impacts on Design Engineers·
- Implementing health and safety risk assessments at design stage, ensuring designs are prepared and/or modified to avoid foreseeable health and safety risks at installation stage;
- To ensure that all works under their control are carried out at a standard of quality compatible with BS EN ISO 9001 and appropriate client standards;
- To ensure Assurance compliance is undertaken as per the appropriate Discipline Review process;
- To undertake any function, within reason to ensure the smooth running of the department/working on own initiative when requested to do so
- In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed, the job holder is required to perform other duties assigned by the Engineering Manager from time to time, as may be reasonably required of them
- To Act as a proxy for the Engineering manager when required
- To act as the appointed Engineering representative.
- To support the installation and commissioning teams working on specific contract
