Design Integration Manager

Our client are seeking a Design Integration Manager, reporting into a HS2 design project bid leadership team. You will be responsible for the overall delivery of integration work as required for this high profile tender.

The tender team will be bidding to create a new section of high speed rail and this opportunity would oversee the integration of design bids in areas such as Civils, Track, Overhead Line, stations, telecoms, earthing and bonding, Signalling etc. In addition, this role would make use of experience gained in systems integration. For example, sub-station to overhead catenary system, tunnel ventilation, track etc.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• You will be the responsible engineer in the team for receipt of all systems & multi-disciplinary design information from internal teams & 3^rd The role requires a clear dialogue with all stake holders, utilising a good overall knowledge of rail infrastructure disciplines and how they integrate together.
• As a Design Interface Manager, you will be securing commitments from outside design organisations that they can deliver specified projects. You will manage this delivery and integrate it with the work of internal teams.
• You will be required to have a close working relationship with the Engineering Manager, updating on progress of all delivery teams, while still taking principal responsibility for solving issues regards integration.
• On a weekly basis you will be required to lead design integration meetings with bid leadership, engineering management, 3^rd party organisations and client representatives.

This work should be relatable to a master interface schedule, and delivery close outs & progress should be trackable in a central document. Where delivery may fall behind schedule despite your best efforts, close liaison with internal engineering management and leadership is required.

As a manager you must remind of the importance and ensure delivery to a design schedule, acting as the first point of contact for issue resolution.

The background of a successful candidate will include:

• Experience as a Project Engineer in the above listed areas
• CRE experience would be advantageous although this role is not focussed on standards.
• Demonstrable experience of managing design interface and integration bids
• Solid knowledge surrounding Rail standards, procedures and UK HSE Legislation

This role will begin in earnest and the initial phase will work towards delivering a successful tender to HS2. Thereafter the role will evolve into delivering the works proposed.
