Following the recent award of multiple 5-year framework contracts in all regions in England and Wales, we are on the lookout for an experienced CEM Design Manager to support our growing portfolio of design and engineering works. The Design Manager will be based in one of our Yorkshire offices (South Yorkshire, North Yorkshire or West Yorkshire). You will be working closely with design consultants and the in-house delivery teams to manage the design portfolio and engineering activities.
We are looking for an experienced and qualified candidate, willing to invest time in our people to help our teams reach their potential and continue to develop and improve our engineering management services
Specific functions of the role:
- CEM for Buildings Framework (LNE & LNW route) and larger individual projects where appropriate
- Lead design review and constructability of projects
- Mentorship of junior staff
- Handover of designed works to the delivery teams and support during construction
- Close liaison with the commercial and operational teams
Experience requirements:
We are recruiting an experienced Chartered Civil Engineer, with in depth knowledge and proven practical experience in the rail sector, to lead our design teams and provide technical support to our delivery teams. Successful candidates will have experience of:
- Undertaking CEM or CRE roles (essential)
- Buildings, structures & civils (essential)
- Structures refurbishment and reconstruction
- Buildings Maintenance
- Temporary works design coordination and implementation
- Safe by design principles
Applications should demonstrate:
- CRE (Construction) – experience within this role previously is essential;
- Minimum 10 years site management experience, demonstrating the delivery of projects;
- Clear and effective communication skills;
- Excellent organisational skills;
- Good level of ability using Microsoft Office
Qualifications:
- MCIOB qualified
- CEng MICE (Chartered Member of the Institute of Civil Engineers) - Essential
- Experience in buildings, civils and structures projects will be essential to meet the demands of this multi-disciplinary contract. A bias towards civils and buildings experience would be advantageous. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of site management on a variety of projects, which is essential to fulfil the role.
- Personal Track Safety (PTS) – preferred, but training is available.
