JOB TITLE: Design Manager - Rail
LOCATION: West Sussex
SALARY: £450 Per Day (Umbrella)

THE CLIENT
My client is a multinational infrastructure group who are currently recruiting for a Design Manager to join them on a major Rail project on an initial 6 month contract basis. This role will fall within IR35 so we are unable to recruit any candidates who wish to be paid via a Ltd company.

THE ROLE
* Design Manager is responsible for the Project Management of the design deliverables to assure the safest, cost effective and buildable temporary and permanent works designs that meet with the Client's specification and industry standards, within budget and to meet programme.
* Implement the management of design services compliant with Network rail and company Rail standards.
* Support the Tender or attend the Tender handover.
* Technically appraise the Contract documentation in comparison to the Tender.
* Manage all technical Queries or Requests for Information for timely issue and response.
* Implement Technical Change as required.
* Produce Design Briefs to meet design requirements in support of Designer Services procurement.
* Implement Designer competency assessments.
* Ensure that proposed Designers have been accepted by the Client prior to commencement.
* Obtain & manage the Systems Definition and Hazard Log in accordance with CSM regulations.
* Produce a Design Management Plan in support of the CEM.
* Ensure provision of an agreed design delivery programme that meets with construction needs.
* Maintain, manage and update the Design Submissions & Approvals register.
* Manage all 3rd party consents to meet contract requirements, maintaining the Consents Register
* Ensure all associated design interfaces are identified and managed.
* Implement Design Start Up meetings with each design consultant.
* Chair and manage regular Design Review meetings with Designer and Client
* Maintain a robust document control of all technical documentation and information
* Ensure the designs have been subject to IDC meetings held by the CEM
* Ensure involvement of stakeholders and construction input during design review meetings.
* Manage the appropriate action and response to any Reviewer comments.
* Gain full approval of the designs from all approving authorities
* Manage all temporary works designs as required by the Temporary Works coordinator.
* Ensure the Approved For Construction documentation has been approved by the CEM.
* Implement a Design hand over to the construction team

ABOUT YOU
* Valid PTS (Personal Track Safety)
* Degree/HNC/HND in Construction related subject
* Progressing towards chartered status
* Previous Design Management Experience and preferred knowledge of Network Rail Standards and procedures
* Preferred previous site experience in railway infrastructure building and Civils.
