Resourcing Solutions Ltd are working with an established design consultancy which is looking for a Design Manager for the rail side of their business to manage a large influx of work on their construction schemes.

Their construction-focused, in-house, design teams work to Governance of Railway Investment Projects (GRIP) stages 1 to 8 with full incorporation of "Safe by Design", "Whole Life Costing" and full compliance to NR/L2/ELP/27311 Engineering Assurance Requirements for Design and Implementation of Electrical Power Engineering Infrastructure Projects, and NR/L2/CIV/003 Engineering Assurance of Building and Civil Engineering Works. So someone with a working knowledge of these design standards will be greatly considered.

More specifically this person will manage the processes associated with conception of design (form A's and form B's) occurring in earlier GRIP stages, so we require someone who has experience of this first and foremost.

We also require someone who has experience of working on ETE designs, someone who has worked on points heating, cable routing and troughing and junction lighting designs etc...

All associated services such as surveying and 2D/3D CAD are done in house.

Their key personnel are trained in personal track side safety, so for this reason this individual will need to have a PTS card and be prepared to do a drug and alcohol test at will if asked.

Their experienced, electrical and civil Contractor's Engineering Managers and Contractor's Responsible Engineers, ensure compliance with rail standards and manage any specialist subcontractors carrying out work to their designs. They can also check, and verify, third party designs, including utility diversions for underground and metro infrastructure networks.

The Design Manager we require is someone will suit someone from a Senior Engineer's background who is looking to take the step in to a Design Manager role.

This person will need experience of getting involved with the above design activities, will be managing more junior Design Engineers and assisting with site construction activities of a civil engineering or electrical nature.

The person we require will be professional, direct, have an analytical mind and a strong desire to succeed and overcome problems. Their desire for accuracy and to deliver the clients standards will be unparalleled.

This role will require someone who is able to communicate at all levels such as senior stakeholders of rail network operators building new rail and altering existing networks to individual staff carrying out construction activities.

Due to the nature of the client's standards, a high level design qualification, or engineering management qualification is required, plus a full and clean driving licence due to travel requirements to sites which they operate on.
