We are currently looking for a Geotechnical Design Engineer to be based in Birmingham working for one of the UKs leading technical Engineering Consultancies. You will work on a range of major schemes within infrastructure such as Rail, Highways and Marine, undertaking design works. This would be a technical position with the emphasis on Geotechnical Design in which you will have geotechnical input to projects which may include design of foundations, slopes, retaining walls etc. which is often as part of a wider site reclamation strategy.
Within the position you will undertake the civil design of foundations, slopes, retaining walls and many other geotechnical elements will also form a key aspect of the role, together with assessment of existing structures and design of remedial measures where appropriate, which you will have to work closely with the civil project team to identify and communicate geotechnical requirements, so they are effectively incorporated into the project delivery. This could be an excellent opportunity for an experienced Assistant Geotechnical Engineer with background in design working to progress into an Design Engineer position, or alternatively a Geotechnical Engineer looking for a fresh challenge.

As mentioned, this position is based in the Birmingham so could suit candidate from the surrounding West Midland areas such as Derby, Coventry or Solihull. - Design delivery of the geotechnical elements of existing and future projects
- Co-ordinate with other engineers both in the regional offices and between groups
- Prepare calculations, drawings and other documents and ensuring these are controlled during the execution of projects

Job Requirements
- Proficient in geotechnical FEM software such as FREW, ALP, PILE, SLOPE and PDisp or similar
- Typically, 3+ years experience with a proven track record in geotechnical design work and experience across a range of projects, ideally gained within a consulting environment.
- Experience in design of deep/shallow foundations, piles, retaining walls, slope stability etc
