Position - Full Summary
The Installation Design Engineer at ADComms will be required to display the following competences to support the ADComms Design and Engineering department:

  • Experience and good understanding of the UK rail communication discipline
  • Able to support the ADComms Design and Engineering department in the production of detail required for submission in overall design documentation.
  • A good understanding of Comms & MEP design regulations in the Rail environment.
  • Experience with CAD drawing production, and a competent user of Microsoft Word, and Excel
  • Experience with production of bills of materials for technical projects.
  • Able to interpret detailed survey information of railway infrastructure and producing detailed design deliverables including Comms & CRMS Design report, space application clearance application, node point drawings and schedules, Comms & CRMS layout drawings, MEP fixing arrangement in plan and elevation, earthing arrangements.
  • Able to compile documentation and drawings into correct format for submission to clients, including redlined design packs and as-built information.
  • Able to communicate clearly in written, sketch and drawn forms to people at all levels
  • Capable of working to tight project time scales whilst paying attention to detail, and act comfortably under pressure
  • Attending various locations throughout the UK to support projects as and when required

The Installation Design Engineer at ADComms will be responsible for applying the following competences, and also for supervising others to apply the following competences:

  • Support the ADComms Design and Engineering department in the production of detail required for submission in overall design documentation.
  • Interpreting detailed survey information of railway infrastructure and producing detailed design deliverables including Comms & CRMS Design report, space application clearance application, node point drawings and schedules, Comms & CRMS layout drawings, MEP fixing arrangement in plan and elevation, earthing arrangements.
  • Compiling documentation and drawings into correct format for submission to clients, including redlined design packs and as-built information.
  • Production of detailed bill of materials from design documentation utilising existing parts catalogues and assisting with specifying new parts and suppliers where necessary
  • A good understanding of Comms, electrical & mechanical design regulations
  • Competent user of discipline specific technical software
  • Capable of working to tight project time scales whilst paying attention to detail, and act comfortably under pressure
  • Able to communicate clearly in written, sketch and drawn forms to people at all levels
  • Attending various locations throughout the UK to support projects as and when required
  • Assisting in interpreting new requests for overall design deliverables to various projects
  • Assisting with supporting live projects with design and engineering deliverables
  • Working with the various project teams to update and revise existing drawings and documentation to reflect additional scope and changes to design detail.
  • Experienced with ISO and TFL Standards is desirable but not essential Knowledge, skills, and abilities

Education level and/or relevant experience(s)

  • HND/HNC in Electrical & Electronic Engineering, or equivalent.
