About The Role
We’re seeking an experienced MU designer (gas and water biased) to provide expert design for our estimating team and design approval packs for our NERS, GIRS and WIRS connections, this will include working closely with the estimators, design, development, procurement and solutions team to ensure robust tender documentation is produced allowing accurate project estimates.
You will need to demonstrate knowledge of working on tenders of MU contracts including ICP, IGT and NAV.
ROLES RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
As part of your day to day role, you are responsible for the following:
- Review customer requirements and provide a broad range of design services on MU connections to demand and generation developments based on the customer scope of works and the location of the site.
- Process project variations with due consideration for implications to the following: design, commercial, client relationship, and supply chain.
- Update Design data and keep data in Presentable format
- Completing take off's from drawings, reading and understanding specifications and associated tender documentation, sending enquiries and evaluating costs from wholesalers and sub-contractors
- Developing and building on existing processes to improve accuracy and robustness of cost models/plans, manage accurate estimates and bids for design and build projects.
- Working with others as part of a bid team to co-ordinate and lead certain elements ensuring bid completion in accordance with required time constraints and standards
- Working with other members of the development teams to produce and review scope documents for issue to tenderers and reviewing tender returns
- Option appraisals and identifying and applying alternative solutions to enhance bid profitability and the delivery of value engineering and input into and development of risk registers
- Working closely with procurement to develop and enhance the existing supply chain for project delivery (EPC and Main Contractor level)
- Prioritise and manage your own workload, maintain accurate records with the objective of delivering supplier coordination to ensure accuracy, best value and competitiveness of estimate and accommodation of the supply chain critical path.
The above list is not exhaustive, and you will occasionally be asked to undertake additional duties where it is reasonable and appropriate.
Desirable Attributes & Skills
- Experience in a similar role
- Strong understanding of electricity distribution, gas and water networks.
- Working knowledge of MS office software – Word, Excel, AutoCad
- 11kV and 33kV design and estimation experience (desirable)

Monday to Friday, Office based position.
