PLM & Design Lead
This is a great opportunity for an experienced PLM & Design Lead to join a leader in railway rolling stock engineering, enhancement and systems integration and provides high quality turnkey project and consultancy services to maximise vehicle utilisation and performance.
With excellent rail engineering, production and project management skills; the company operates from design and engineering offices at our Wolverton facility where we not only design but install and maintain rolling stock.
As PLM & Design Lead you will guide the design team to work within the Teamcenter environment. Setting up workflows and defining best practises using Solid Edge design packages to produce models and technical drawing whilst checking and verifying the work of other team members.
Key responsibilities for this PLM & Design Lead role:
- To undertake designs required to integrate technology enhancements onto existing rolling stock under turnkey projects. This extends from contract award, through design, material procurement, validation and installation.
- Use SolidEdge to model and produce drawings of new mechanical and electrical system for integration into rail vehicles.
- Maintenance of the PLM system and security of the 3D models, drawings and associated data.
- Investigate efficiency and automation macros to be applied to Customer drawing frames.
- Produce and maintain design and drawing practice best practise documents to ensure Gemini's drawing standards are consistent.
- Investigate improvements to efficiency and ways of working. Update and modify workflow when necessary.
- Problem support for designers when problems arise with their Team Centre system.
- Monitor all CAD items added to parts catalogue to ensure they are in line with the TeamCenter and Gemini requirements.
Experience required for this PLM & Design Lead role:
- Engineering qualification at HNC or higher, or equivalent industry experience.
- A level of industry experience which provides the ability to undertake Design tasks with supervision/ guidance from the Engineering team.
- MUST HAVE Computer Aided Design (SolidEdge).
- Excellent working knowledge of MS Word and Excel.
- Good communication with CAD and TeamCenter service providers to provide support to Design team in areas which require guidance from external experts.
- Parts Data Management (PDM) and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system experience.
- Design Standards understanding for application in Teamcenter and SolidEdge.
- Working knowledge of core engineering design skills (such as drawing creation, parts listing, drawing structure and presentation for approval by customers).
- A good appreciation of the various rail vehicle systems to be able to address the design integration of them as directed by the Engineering Team.
