Our Transportation at AECOM team currently have a vacancy for a Principal Overhead Line Engineer with experience working on Network Rail’s infrastructure.
Working as part of a well-established OLE team, you will be responsible for managing and delivering safe, economical and quality projects for a variety of clients to meet their objectives and requirements.
The Principal Overhead Design Engineer will report to the Team Leader and work together across all disciplines to achieve the best system design approach for each project. This role may include responsibility for leading a team of engineers and designers.

CRE and Lead designer duties for OLE design Schemes.

Delivery and management of the production of technical designs for OLE including Layout Plans, Cross Sections, Allocations, Isolation Diagrams updates, bonding designs, and supporting reports and calculations.

To develop OLE designs through the different stages of the project life cycle for complex sites.

Ensuring designs are delivered in line with relevant, current design standards, are constructible, and apply Safe by Design principles.

Work within financial and programme constraints, monitoring expenditure against the project fee. Communicate effectively with other design/construction disciplines and sub-contractors

Prepare fee proposal and agree with Director for submission to client, including resources and programme

Respond to design queries during the construction phase and attend site meetings if required.

Project Engineer Duties for Network Rail subject to successful assessment by the Designated Project Engineer via Form F0054.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Proven CRE Experience of significant Overhead Line electrical technical design
-
Comprehensive knowledge and Experienced in OLEMI and other OLE ranges i.e. UKMS, Series-1, Series-2, Mk3B, GEFF, Mk1, SICAT, SNCF, UK1 etc.

Familiar with Isolation diagrams and their update process.Understanding of Earthing & Bonding required for electrification

Proficient in Bentley MicroStation CAD softwareExcellent communications and organization Skills.

Understanding of CSM-RA & Health and Safety including CDM Experience of managing teams.

Candidates will be able to provide experience of working in a 3D common data environment working to BI

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

BSc, BEng or MEng degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering

Previous Design CRE Roles

Chartered Engineer (or working towards) and member of a professional institution.
The AECOM OLE team are using automated design software to generate data rich BIM compliant 3D models which are integrated using the Bentley iTwin platform, providing real-time intelligence for planning, visualisation, operation and asset management in a Digital Twin of the built infrastructure.
Using in house BIM and Information management capability AECOM establish and manage the Common Data Environment (CDE) and federated model containing survey data, cab ride video, point cloud data, discipline models and asset models. 3D ‘reality’ models provide real world context using HD aerial 3D imaging and photogrammetry captured using a drone or plane.
