Please note as this position is contract role outside IR35 and can be worked full time remotely for the right candidate, but is also flexible on location across the office such as Reading, London, Birmingham, Manchester or York
 
We are currently dealing with a major Engineering consultancy who are looking for a Principal Track Design Engineer on an outside IR35 contract basis with the role being flexible in any of their regional offices such as Reading, London, Birmingham, Manchester, or York. The said consultancy having a work bank on some of the UK leading infrastructure projects such as TRU and HS2, with this said role delivering packages of work on the TRU.

As the Principal Engineer within the Track team, may act as Track CRE, as directed on specific projects and lead projects, to ensure project budgets and programmes are achieved taking an active role in maintaining and improving quality design processes, ensuring safe Permanent Way design practices are adhered to and demonstrated within designs. Typical job duties can include but no limited too:

• Design/lead permanent way solutions for engineering projects in accordance with client requirements
• Act as design deliverables checker and Track CRE on specific projects
• Achieve the scope agreed with the Track Team Leader and Project Manager to effectively deliver projects to current engineering and safety standards
• Provide project progress and performance reports to the Track Team Leader and Project Management Team

 
Job Requirements

• Proficient at permanent way engineering alignment design and track components specification
• Skilled user of Bentley MicroStation, Bentley RailTrack and ClearRoute2
• Detailed knowledge of multi-disciplinary issues associated with permanent way design
• Detailed knowledge of construction principles and standards including RSSB Group Standards, Network Rail GRIP Process and Company Standards
• Good knowledge of the application of safety standards including CDM and CSM-RA
