We are currently looking for a Programme Manager for a busy rail industry job based in Chippenham. This is offered on a 6 month contract initially but is likely to be extended.
Role Overview
We are seeking a strategic and delivery-focused individual to lead the development and implementation of a repeatable business development process for entering new markets and introducing new technologies. This role is pivotal in shaping how we identify, assess, and pursue growth opportunities—ensuring that our approach is strategic, structured, scalable, and aligned with business expectations.
You will own the end-to-end implementation of this process, working closely with the wider Business Development team and business stakeholders. Your success will be measured by the quality and impact of the strategies developed.
Success Measures
Development of clear, actionable, and well-evidenced strategies for new market entry and technology introduction.
Positive feedback from the Executive Team on the quality, insight, and strategic value of the strategies produced.
Adoption and use of the strategies by Business Development teams to guide decision-making and execution.
Demonstrated acceleration of in-flight new market initiatives through strategic input and structured support.
Evidence of the process enabling repeatable, scalable success in identifying and pursuing new opportunities.
Skills & Experience
Proven experience in business development, strategy, or commercial innovation roles.
Strong understanding of market analysis, technology trends, and go-to-market planning.
Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and drive implementation.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment with multiple priorities.
Desirable
Experience in regulated or infrastructure-heavy industries (e.g., transport, energy, telecoms).
Familiarity with innovation frameworks (e.g., Lean Startup, Stage-Gate, Design Thinking).
Exposure to digital or AI-driven technology introductions.
