SCADA Design Lead - Major Rail Project (KSA-Based)

A leading European consultancy is seeking an experienced SCADA Design Lead to join its team on a landmark rail infrastructure program based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

This is a key role within a multi-billion-dollar transport initiative and is ideally suited to candidates already based in KSA or the wider GCC region. We are looking for professionals with strong technical expertise in SCADA systems design within high-speed rail (HSR), mainline, conventional, or freight rail projects. (Metro and LRT experience will not be considered.)

The Role:

As the SCADA Design Lead, you will be responsible for the full lifecycle of SCADA system design activities. This includes reviewing contractor submissions, ensuring technical compliance, managing design integration across disciplines, and guaranteeing that all systems meet project objectives, safety standards, and international best practices.

You will act as a key interface between internal teams, external contractors, and stakeholders-ensuring effective coordination, timely delivery, and top-tier design quality.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and oversee SCADA systems design and coordination activities across the project.

• Review contractor design deliverables to ensure alignment with project requirements.

• Manage discipline-specific plans, schedules, and execution strategies.

• Track progress, performance, and milestones to ensure timely delivery.

• Identify and manage design interfaces across systems and disciplines.

• Conduct and document technical meetings, reviews, and coordination sessions.

• Provide regular progress reports and lead technical presentations to stakeholders.

Candidate Requirements:

• Minimum 15 years of post-graduate experience in SCADA and related systems.

• At least 10 years of experience working on HSR, mainline, conventional, or freight rail projects.

• Deep technical understanding of SCADA design, implementation, and integration.

• Proven experience in leading multidisciplinary teams on large-scale infrastructure projects.

• Strong knowledge of industry regulations, safety standards, and quality control measures.

• Excellent planning, coordination, and stakeholder communication skills.

• Preference given to candidates currently based in KSA or GCC.
