Security Design Lead - Major Rail Project (KSA-Based)

EWI are working with a leading European consultancy to appoint a Security Design Lead for a prestigious, high-speed rail project based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

This is a senior-level opportunity suited for a highly experienced security systems specialist with a strong background in high-speed rail (HSR), mainline, conventional, or freight rail projects. (Please note: candidates with only metro or LRT experience will not be considered.)

The Opportunity:

In this role, you will lead and coordinate all aspects of the Security design discipline, from initial assessments through to detailed design delivery and implementation. You'll act as the client-side interface for security systems, overseeing contractor deliverables, ensuring design integrity, and aligning security solutions with project objectives, regulatory requirements, and international standards.

This position requires someone with a strong technical background, exceptional stakeholder management skills, and a proactive, delivery-focused mindset.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the security design function across the project lifecycle.

• Review and validate the contractor's security design submissions.

• Ensure designs align with safety, operational, and strategic project goals.

• Conduct security assessments and ensure compliance with best practice and relevant standards.

• Oversee planning, scheduling, and work execution related to security design activities.

• Track progress, milestones, and interface management across design disciplines.

• Facilitate, document, and lead project meetings and presentations related to security scope.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve design challenges and ensure timely delivery.

Candidate Requirements:

• Minimum of 15 years post-graduate experience in security systems design and engineering.

• At least 10 years' experience in HSR, mainline, conventional, or freight rail projects.

• Strong understanding of physical and electronic security systems within large-scale infrastructure projects.

• Demonstrated leadership in managing multidisciplinary design teams and design coordination.

• Familiarity with international security and safety standards.

• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

• Preference given to candidates currently based in KSA or the GCC.
