TXM Recruit have a new opportunity for a Senior Design Engineer for a leading manufacturer and supplier of switchgears based in Coventry.
Role Overview:

Role Overview:
As a Senior Design Engineer you will perform an integral role within the Rail Power Electrification Design Team and provide hands-on design support for all LV switchgear and control gear projects within the business.
Role Responsibilities:
- Work as lead engineer in the design team having the ability to analyse and interpret Network Rail Single Line Diagrams and job specification documents to initially create financial estimates for the design solutions in line with our standard railway product offerings, ensuring that all project elements are covered and delivered on time.
- Oversee the end to end process from contract review, design and BOM creation, purchase orders, production support, testing, commissioning to O&M manual creation accurately on time and to budget.
- Responsibility and accountability for taking the lead on projects to ensure a high level of service and product to satisfy the needs of the customer.
- Able to follow assigned workload efficiently within the LV design team for the project requirements whether this be for site surveys or detailed design.
- A deep appreciation and understanding of other disciplines influencing E&P design this being either signalling, telecoms, Pway, OLE and Civils
- Support the Design Engineers as required in the preparation of technical, cost and programme information to support project/bids if asked to do so.
Role Requirements:
- Experience in a similar design office role.
- Experience as an Electrification & Plant Engineer, ideally gained in a railway environment.
- Mechanical and electrical experience, especially LV switchgear controlgear is highly desirable.
- A working knowledge of relevant British standards BS EN 60439-1/ BS7671 / 17/18th Edition wiring regulations/Railway Group standards/Network Rail standards. An understanding of LUL standards is desirable.
- A good working knowledge of Autocad Electrical and all relevant software packages, IT literate
- Awareness of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 and 44001 standards.
- Knowledge and understanding of the end to end design process
