We are working with a multi-disciplinary engineering company who now have a vacancy available for a Senior Highways Design Engineer with VRS experience to work with National Highways. The purpose of the role is to provide effective support and assistance to your Design Team Leader on a variety of highways schemes whilst taking the lead on projects and mentoring the junior members of the team.

This role will require 2 days in the office each week.

You will be required to work inside IR35 in these roles.

Principal responsibilities:

• Lead on the delivery of scheme design
• Work to programme to deliver specified designs on time
• Liaise with the Client and our Community partners to ensure solutions that are developed are suitable for buildability and maintainability
• Prepare technical reports (e.g. Feasibility/Options Reports, Assessment Reports and other technical reports)
• Assist in the preparation and monitoring of the budget for projects including the planning, monitoring and reporting of project resources
• Carry out site surveys & inspections

Key skills/experience required:

• VRS experience is essential
• Previous experience within Highways or Civil engineering at Design Engineer level or above
• Strong knowledge of design processes and procedures relevant to the discipline
• Able to produce or oversee the production of technically sound Highways engineering solutions
• Experience in the application of technical governance procedures within a consulting engineering environment

Qualifications:

• Minimum level 4 qualification in an appropriate subject – ideally Bachelor or Master degree
