We are working with a multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy that now has a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Track Engineer to join their team in either York or Manchester.

You will be responsible to lead and direct teams of engineers and technicians in producing engineering surveys, designs, studies and reports for railway infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will act as Lead Engineer on high profile and critical track projects to ensure programme timescales are adhered to and delivered on.

Principal responsibilities:

• Design Permanent Way engineering projects in accordance with client requirements
• Manage and check designs produced by junior staff.
• Undertake independent design checking carried out by other sections/offices as required
• Achieve agreed targets for delivery of projects to current engineering and safety standards within agreed timescale and budget
• Lead and coordinate all type of Permanent Way Surveys
• Manage and develop staff both on a daily basis and through the appraisal process in order to ensure the required skills are available within the department to meet business objectives.

Key skills/experience:

• Detailed experience of Permanent Way engineering design
• Incorporated or Chartered Engineer (desirable)
• Proficient at CAD Design including Microstation, Mx and ClearRoute
• Detailed knowledge of multi-disciplinary issues associated with Permanent Way design
• Detailed knowledge of construction principles and standards
• Detailed knowledge of track engineering design and contract conditions and safety standards.
• Ability to maintain client relationships.
• Good presentation skills.
• Good commercial awareness including programming and delivery to budgets/timescales. Awareness and experience of delivery to budget/timescales.
• Experience of team management and development.

• Stays close to customers and competitors in order to create market leadership for business.
