Our client, a multi-discipline engineering business, is now urgently looking for a Senior Signalling Design Engineer to join their team in either York or Liverpool. They are happy to offer flexible working arrangements but you will be required to attend either office 3/4 days a week, ideally. The purpose of the role is to lead design engineers within a functional discipline in delivering design works.

This position is open to both permanent staff and contractors (Outside IR35).

Principal responsiblities:

• Ensure a cost effective, high quality and safe approach to design works including feasibility, option selection, detailed design and entry into service.
• Support interfaces with clients on design issues.
• Ensure that work carried out is in accordance with Railway Industry and Network Rail Company standards and Network Rail project control procedures.
• Ensure the design elements meet the requirements of legislation, including construction design management (CDM) regulations.
• Support Design Manager to ensure works are carried out within budget and to agreed timescales.

Key skills/experience required:

• 7+ years experience within Signalling Design
• Ability to support programme and resource requirements to deliver work load.
• Knowledge of safety management and quality assurance
• Experience of supporting Accident/Incident investigations
• Engineering degree (or other qualifications with work place experience)
• Membership of a relevant professional institution.
• IRSE Licence category – 1.1.510
• IRSE - 1.1.160 (desirable)
• Recognised accreditation with professional engineering institute (desirable)
