Signalling Design Engineers (Contract, Remote)

We are currently dealing with a Rail Engineering consultancy who are looking to expand the team by recruiting a Contract Signalling Designer, with their main office being based in Stratford-upon-Avon but offering full remote working. Within this role as Signalling Design Engineer, you will be involved in a wide variety of projects covering a range of signalling technologies and working as part of a close-knit team. You will see and be involved in projects through early GRIP scheme development to detailed design, installation, and testing. This provides great experience and career development.

As Signalling Design Engineer your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Preparation and production of railway signalling designers, specifications, reports, and working drawings ensuring compliance with all contractual and statutory requirements within agreed timescales and performance parameters
• Assisting in the preparation of estimates and tender documentation
• Working within a records/document management system
• Assisting with correlation or other site survey works
• Undertaking design office cover (out of office hours)
• Creating and managing of trackers/registers for Design deliverables
• Supporting project engineering and delivery as required, including opportunities to go trackside undertaking Assistant Testing duties during commissioning periods

Job requirements:

• Able to carry out Safety Critical Work
• Holds current IRSE Signalling Designer licence (1.1.510)
• Experience including knowledge of UK railway standards, design processes and procedures preferable at both outline design (NWR GRIP 3 to 4) and detailed design (NWR GRIP 5+) stages
• Experience of using appropriate industry standard CAD packages
• Experience in signalling design in the UK mainline railway environment including a range of different lineside technologies and types of projects
• Good communication skills and the ability to work closely with team members including excellent standard of English for written communications
• HNC/HND Qualifications in Electrical Engineering or similar (desirable)
• Fit and able to work trackside/ hold PTS
• Experience of signalling design and/or stage works

 

The work location for this contracting position will be centered on the companys Headquarters Offices, Stratford-upon-Avon, but you will be able to work within the companys Agility Framework and Hybrid Work Policy, meaning your day-to-day work base will be working from home, only attending the office for essential client meetings, mentor meetings and peer reviews.
