REPORT:
Design Manager
ROLE PURPOSE
The principal function of this position is to: Work under the supervision of the Project Manager liaising with Client, Design Consultant and relevant Stakeholders to ensure design delivery on time, to Quality and to budget. Manage design change, risk and opportunities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties will include:
- Contribute to the achievement of Health and Safety in accordance with company policy
- Co-ordinate the design team activities to ensure that the project design is completed on budget in line with the cost plan, and on time in line with the agreed construction programme
- Monitor and track progress of the design, manage any slippages and be the interface with the management team
- Promote value engineering throughout the design process
- Work with the procurement team to ensure compliance with financial parameters
- Be responsible for ensuring the design complies with health, safety, environmental and quality requirements
- Liaise with client representatives on the design development as required
- Liaise with Engineering Services HQ in Spain to ensure adherence to Ferrovial design processes and principles
- Assist the Design Manager on the management of the design team, giving advice on appropriate resourcing levels, effective performance management, employee development and motivation
- Promote company values in all dealing with other employees, clients, subcontractors and other external contacts.
KEY SKILLS
- Knowledge of Health and Safety Legislation
- Extensive structural design experience
- Experience of working in a cost conscious environment
- People management skills
- Excellent communication skills and ability to interact at a variety of levels
- Excellent written and oral English language
- Experience of working in the construction industry
- Knowledge of working in airport development projects
DESIRABLE SKILLS
- Spanish language skills
- CSCS card
- Experience of working in an international organization
- Knowledge of BIM, Revit/Civils 3D skilled
