Telecoms Design Engineer (Operational) in United Kingdom

With a strong understanding of the technical and business aspects of railway telecoms, both Operational and Station Information and Security Systems, the Telecoms Designer will participate in multi-disciplinary project teams, providing technical support to the discipline in terms of production and mentoring where required. Support the Telecoms Design Manager / Associate Director and other members of the team with additional duties as required such as, progress/programme reporting, tendering new works, production of guidance notes etc.

Projects including several 'Access for All' station upgrades, Darlington Station remodelling and schemes within Managed Systems Frameworks.

Job Description

  • Produce deliverables in accordance with client and governance requirements for Telecoms and associated projects
  • Design of Telecoms projects to deliver to defined timescales
  • Understand and lead the systems interfaces between Telecoms and other disciplines, such as Signalling, E&P and Civils
  • Bid preparation to support tendering of new works
  • Mentor junior members of the Telecoms discipline
  • Produce Telecoms designs and documentation at a consistent and acceptable level of quality
  • Work closely with Design Manager / Associate Director to support them with all appropriate tasks
  • Taking an active part in monthly HSQE meetings through sharing relevant health & safety information with others and identifying and prioritising HSQE issues that affect rail and the wider business.

Qualifications

  • Experience of delivering Telecoms design as part of multi-disciplinary rail systems projects, both Operational Telecoms or SISS
  • Commitment to professional development and retaining the highest standard of Telecoms design technical skills
  • The ability to be able to work in a number of differing consultancy environments and situations across the project lifecycle
  • Understanding and experience of working within project budgets whilst maintaining the delivery of high-quality outputs
  • Commitment to delivery to internal and external clients, with the view towards timeliness, reliability, safety and accuracy of completed tasks
