AECOM is seeking to hire an Engineering Manager to work in our Stratford office. The role will require experience of Switch & Crossing design and will include acting as the Contractor's Engineering Manager for the delivery of multi-disciplinary schemes.
The primary focus of this role is to undertake the technical leadership of the Grip 4 to 5 development of multidisciplinary schemes, leading a team of discipline Contractor’s Responsible Engineers and working with all key stakeholders associated with the project. The emphasis will be on the delivery of projects to appropriate quality standards, whilst achieving excellence in technical quality and ensuring that an integrated multi-discipline engineering efficiency is achieved.

The emphasis will be on the delivery of projects to appropriate quality standards, whilst achieving excellence in technical quality and ensuring that an integrated multi-discipline engineering efficiency is achieved.
Specific tasks to be performed are inclusive of the following:
- Multi- design co-ordination including signalling, overhead line, third rail, civils and power.
- Technical quality of deliverables – undertaking checks of design deliverables completed by members of the team in accordance with company procedures.
- Acting in the capacity of a Contractor’s Engineering Manager.
- Timely delivery in accordance with design programmes.
- Reviewing personal / team budgets and resourcing to achieve financial and programme targets.
- Keep up to date with industry best practice and where appropriate apply best practice within the team environment.
- Demonstrable experience in the performing the role of the Engineering Manager is high profile projects.
- Ensure the design teams understand, apply in design and are advocates for a Common Safety Method (CSM) approach on our projects.
- Ensure the design teams understand and apply a Safe By Design approach.
- Knowledge of maintenance practices and construction methodologies and the ability to consider/define requirements within design development.
- Knowledge of system interfaces which impact on track design principles and demonstrable experience if the successful management of interfaces within design experience.
- Excellent communication skills, ability to develop and deliver presentations, preparation of technical reports and knowledge about project management.
- Serves as lead engineer on mid- to large size projects.
- Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise.
- Approves and signs off on work.
- Provides technical expertise for studies and design efforts.
- Presents complex technical solutions to clients.
- Performs quality control reviews of work developed by others.
- Participates in development of technical proposals.
- Provides estimates for the engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements on large projects.
- Demonstrable experience and understanding of railway track throughout the engineering process from project inception to delivery, specifically on Network Rail Infrastructure.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work within teams as part of an Alliance arrangement whilst having a dedicated approach to working within and meeting strict project deadlines.
- Good communication skills when dealing with clients, developers, consultants, elected representatives and the public.
- Client focused approach to service delivery.
- Previous Contractor’s Engineering Management experience in rail projects
- Chartered or Incorporated Engineer CEng / IEng
- Recognised engineering qualification or preferably a degree in Engineering
